Karen Beattie

Karen is the Nantucket Conservation Foundation's (NCF) Vice President of Science and Stewardship. NCF is a private, non-profit land trust that owns, protects and manages over 9,000 acres of conservation land on Nantucket Island and hosts an active ecological research and land stewardship program with 8 year-round ecologists. NCF's Department of Ecological Research, Stewardship and Restoration worked with the Massachusetts Division of Ecological Restoration's Cranberry Bog Program, Fuss & O'Neill and SumCo Eco-Contractors to implement wetland restoration at NCF's Windswept Bog property, a formerly cultivated cranberry farm that was retired in 2017. The project completed construction in late March, 2025 and post-restoration monitoring is currently underway.
