Volunteer River Herring Monitoring at Beaver Dam Brook and Manomet Brook

2024 Herring Count Training Dates!

Two participants observing herring in Beaver Dam Brook.

That time of year is here again! Herring count trainings have been scheduled for our new and returning volunteers!

You will need to attend one in-person training session (not both) and the online training session on March 7th to participate. The online training will be recorded for those who cannot attend the live virtual session.

Click the links below to register for trainings. All in-person trainings will take place at Tidmarsh Wildlife Sanctuary at 60 Beaver Dam Rd in Plymouth, MA.

Returning volunteers do not need to attend 2 trainings but instead may choose one training as a refresher.

Mass Audubon volunteers can now sign-up, search for volunteer opportunities, register for shifts or events, record hours, and stay in touch, all through our Mass Audubon Volunteer Portal: https://volunteer.massaudubon.org

Once on the site, you will be asked to create an account with your name, email address, and emergency contact information. From here, you will be able to sign up for the Herring Count Trainings. Once you are officially trained, we will send you a private volunteer link to sign up for Herring Count shifts.

If you have any questions about trainings, volunteering or the new Volunteer Portal, please contact us at sevols@massaudubon.org
