Key Concepts

Information on the Living Observatory platform is represented by a handful of entities:

  • Projects represent work being done.
  • Data Objects (or simply objects) are items with a geographical component (such as a GPS coordinate or a geographical region). Objects can represent various types of geographical entities, such as entire properties or individual sampling locations. Data objects can contain both metadata, which are parameters that describe the object and do not change, and sample data, which is date/time stamped. Multiple samples can form a time series.
